The value-based purchasing scores are a mechanism for CMS to rank hospitals within a new Medicare payment program on a subset of hospital quality measures. The overall score, clinical score and patient experience score are out of 100 possible points. The median overall score for North Carolina hospitals for October 2010 - June 2011 is 53.5. On these meters, the position of the arrow (red to blue) indicates the facility's standing relative to other North Carolina hospitals. See the VBP Dashboard Guide for instructions on interpreting this data. What is Value Based Purchasing? View VBP Cut Points or the Distribution of the Overall Score.
